Wool 2 Yarn is a small bespoke textile business that specialises in Alpaca, Merino and Silk fibres.
We process the fleece from Alpacas and sheep into luxurious yarn, rovings and garments. From shearing to shelf we do every single part of the process thus creating a truly local product.

At Wool 2 Yarn, we are proudly an Australian textile mill processing all types of fibre from start to finish. We started this adventure as Alpaca farmers in the late 90's and grew our herd to over 150 strong. With Alasdair's background in textiles. we set up Australia's first micro-mill in 2003. Over the years we have expanded to process other fibres to meet the requirements of our customer and their wishes to develop unique products.
We believe in the Farm To Yarn philosophy for those who wish to do more with their fibre and support a 100% Australian made product, traceable to the animal itself.
The carbon footprint of our alpaca fibre is incredibly low. We are careful to look after the environment, with a non-toxic scouring system, and by not carbonising or by not chemically treating the wool with products such as 'super wash',we are able to achieve minimal environmental impact. We offer a truely local, Australian made product, grown and made on the Mornington Peninsula.
We have taken our Farm to Yarn movement to a new level, with our new campaign Farm To Fashion, with the yarn and fibre being traceable to the individual animal. We are a unique mill, one of the very few in the world, who are able to say that we process our garments in one place, thus our new range Farm to Fashion.
