Dyeing To Weave is a globally registered SAORI weaving studio, specialising in Japanese SAORI weaving and natural dyes.

Prue Simmons is a passionate and fully accredited SAORI teacher, mentor and licensed Australian distributor of SAORI looms, equipment and specialty Japanese yarns. Prue also specialises in Japanese Bengala eco-dyes and is the only seller of these beautiful handcrafted Japanese dyes in Australia.

Based in Clunes, Prue teaches workshops throughout Central Victoria and Melbourne, and provides sales and full training for SAORI looms, associated equipment and Japanese natural dye products. Prue offers ongoing support and mentorship through her online studio program, the Inner Circle. The Inner Circle is a vibrant community of SAORI loom owners who come together online to learn new skills, techniques and share creativity and inspiration.

Prue also runs an incredible 4-day immersive SAORI Weaving Retreat, which she hosts at a stunning Japanese-inspired accommodation in Central Victoria. The SAORI Immersive Retreat is perfect for both seasoned weavers and complete beginners, to escape the everyday, learn the craft and philosophy of SAORI and indulge in this relaxing, meditative form of creativity surrounded by the serenity of this exquisite Japanese Spa Retreat.

Prue Simmons first discovered the fun and easy craft of Japanese SAORI weaving when living and exploring the mountains of Japan in 2014 and is one of only three accredited and fully licensed SAORI teachers and distributors for SAORI equipment here in Australia.

Prue fell in love with the easy freestyle creativity of SAORI weaving, enabling the weaver to very quickly make beautiful cloth from any type of yarn. Her deep love of Japanese crafts, culture and language has also seen her specialise in a handcrafted eco-dye called Bengala.

Prue teaches in-person and online classes in these beautiful earthy Japanese eco-dyes, as well as indigo dyeing sessions and SAORI weaving workshops at her studio in Clunes in Central Victoria, and in Ballarat and Melbourne.

As a licensed distributor of SAORI weaving equipment and yarns, Prue offers full training and ongoing mentoring and support with all looms sold through Dyeing To Weave to ensure that you stay CONFIDENT, SUPPORTED and INSPIRED using your loom at home, and in all stages of your SAORI weaving journey.
